Bigger on the inside
The 1st Doctor uses his natural commanding nature to make the other Doctors explain what is going on. The 2nd Doctor tries to break the news gently, but the 3rd Doctor has to clarify. Rose has a major flip-out when she discovers that the Doctor has a FAMILY somewhere, somewhen. Some of this requires a bit of explanation. The 1st Doctor has come in from shortly before the pilot of the original series. It wasn’t until he and Susan landed and stayed in 1960’s England before the series that the TARDIS chameleon circuit broke down. So he doesn’t immediately recognize the Police Box TARDISes of all his successors. He knows they’re Time Lords, that’s all. He figures he’s been ‘caught’. (The Doctor claims to have left Gallifrey on the run because he was bored. But we learn later that there’s far more to his history then he’s implied. Depends how much of it we take seriously, though. He must have, at one time, been a very important figure).
